HOT PROSPECTS TO
WATCH!
SUMMER 2008
DYLAN RIVERO
Dylan Rivero, 10, has been with the Club since early June and is proving
to be dedicated and competitive. Rarely missing a daily practice,
Rivero works hard at every station and drill. During the past several
weeks, he has maintained his weight well while increasing his muscle mass,
strength and overall conditioning. His endurance has improved 300% as
evidenced in daily workout log.
Dylan's relatives have
all commented that his improved attitude, ability to follow instructions and
more focused and calmer manner have been nothing but remarkable. He
will be attending Burkeville Elementary School this fall no doubt his
emerging self-esteem and confidence will make his 5th grade year memorable and
productive!
ZANE CONNER
Zane, 10 and a student at Newton Elementary School, has been with the Club
the day he turned 8-years old. Tall for his age (he wears a size 12
men's shoe!), Zane concentrates on
using his long reach on shorter opponents and racks up the points. In
2007, he was awarded the Texas State Silver Gloves championship trophy.
His last bout was on April 12th when he met up with a tough and determined
boxer from Louisiana. Footwork, agility and quick on-target punching
earned him the Championship trophy in his class.
JOSH
ALFRED
Josh Alfred, 19, begins his quest to become
an outstanding and recognized amateur boxer representing the Gulf Region LBC.
A 2006 graduate of Newton High School and a valuable member of the Texas
State Football Championship team in 2005, Josh has the drive necessary to
become a champion.
The training and discipline all our NHS football players receive from Coach
Curtis Barbay and staff will always make the difference when a former or
existing player steps foot in the ring. Josh is a prime example of
that foundation. He never questions station assignments and works out
hard even with injuries. Weighing in around 172, Josh is determined to
chisel his body even further to compete in the middle-weight class.
Keep your eye on this young man as he progresses this summer.
